Access

MCG manage access to Upper Flood Swallet on behalf of the landowner. In return, we have agreed to provide leaders so that anyone wishing to visit the cave may do so.

Suitable clothing must be worn - the diggers prefer oversuits and neofleeces, but others have done the trip using fleeces or wetsuits. Gloves and knee-pads are considered essential. Depending on water levels, the Lavatory Trap can be easily passable or almost a sump. A trip to the far end and back typically lasts some 6 hours and is on the strenuous side as Mendip caving goes. It is advisable to take food and drink.

To arrange a trip, please use our contact form

Please give reasonable notice so that we can arrange an MCG leader for your trip
