Portraits Underground
This page provides a selection of portraits in a cave environment, taken by the webmaster during his active caving days! The camera used in most cases was a Nikon EM 35mm SLR camera fitted with a 28mm Nikon lens, and loaded with Agfa CT21 colour reversal film. A flash gun was synchronised with the camera shutter and mounted on the camera or on an extension bar to one side of the camera. An additional flash gun was almost always employed, and was triggered from the main flash via a "slave" sensor. The equipment was carried underground in a 6" ammo box lined with closed-cell foam. A dry cloth was always kept in the top of the box to wipe hands and thereby minimise that scourge of cave photography, the steaming photographer!
